I started my health career as a Registered Nurse over 20 years ago for one simple reason –

I remember one patient, in particular, a young woman in her mid-30s, who came to me suffering from an extensive list of conditions: Type 1 diabetes, rheumatoid arthritis, fibromyalgia, insomnia, depression, anxiety… the chart went on and on.
This young woman was doing everything “ right” , at least according to the conventional medicine perspective. She ate well, exercised and followed the treatment plan and medication regimen that was prescribed to her. Despite this, she remained in chronic poor health and frustrated with the impact her conditions were having on her well-being and quality of life.
In search of answers, I arranged for her to be seen at one of the most prestigious medical facilities in the country — hopeful these leading experts may offer some additional guidance on how to better manage her symptoms and prevent the progression of her illnesses.
Although she received excellent care at the facility, no new insights came out of the consultation, and she returned feeling at a loss for where to turn or what to do next.
I’ve always been drawn to a natural and holistic perspective on health, but when I discovered functional medicine the course of my career changed forever. It was exciting to find an approach to health that emphasized treating the person as a whole, rather than just prescribing medications to take care of their current symptoms. This approach was a sharp contrast to the shortcomings that had frustrated me in conventional medicine, and I quickly realized it was the path I was meant to pursue.
Through functional medicine, I’ve renewed my passion for helping people achieve the best level of health possible.
Now I empower clients to take an active role in their treatment, and together we develop a plan to improve their health so they can transform their lives.
